From clear skin, to good digestion, fruits are some of the most healing foods we can eat. During those long hot summer months, fruits are an easy and convenient way to stay cool and hydrated. These summer fruits will provide your body with an added boost of energy and immune support.
One of the most refreshing fruits you can buy is a watermelon. Not only is it extremely hydrating but it’s cheap too! Filled with Vitamin A to boost immunity and protects your eyes, this powerful fruit is definitely a summer go to. High amounts of Vitamin C are also found in watermelons, which provides additional immune support! Other nutrients include potassium which promotes a healthy heart and prevents muscle cramps.
Who doesn’t love a big juicy mango, also known as king of the fruits! Although they may be higher in calories than other fruits, don’t let this scare you. Mangoes still offer tons of nutritious vitamins. They’re rich in nutrients like Vitamin A, C, potassium and zeaxanthin which protects the eyes from harsh rays.
I would say papayas are one of the most underrated fruits out there. Not only do you get SO much fruit from one papaya, but they also offer loads of nutrients. Papayas are extremely refreshing and taste even more delicious with a fresh lime squeezed over it. Loaded with nutrients like Vitamin A, C, folate, antioxidants, beta-carotene, and multiple phytochemicals, this hydrating fruit should be included in all of your daily summer diets. Papayas also contain papain, a plant compound that helps maintain a healthy gastrointestinal health! Papayas are great if you’re having digestion issues or bloating, making it the perfect summer breakfast before throwing on your swimsuit.
Guavas are more of an unusual purchase at the grocery store, but still delicious nonetheless! This fruit is great for diabetic patients because it helps keep blood sugar levels down and insulin levels balanced. Guavas are great for maintaining a healthy digestion, skin complexion and good eyesight. This tropical summer fruit is also known to help with menstrual cramps!
Summertime is the BEST time for plums. You’ll see them on all your local grocery stores shelves, bursting with color and flavor. If you’ve never tried a pluot (apricot and plum hybrid) I strongly suggest you do. They have one of the most amazing flavors I’ve ever tasted. Plums on their own have so many nutrients in them. They are loaded with fiber and sorbitol which help to relieve constipation and other digestive issues. Plums are also known as a heart healthy fruit since they help to maintain blood pressure.
The ultimate picnic fruit! Whether you’re going to the beach, a lake, or just setting up in your backyard, grapes definitely have a sense of nostalgia to them. These delicious little fruits are bursting with flavor and antioxidants. They are known to help prevent viral infections and promote a healthy digestion.
